Max Patch, a stretch of mountain meadow along the Appalachian Trail, was the first hike we did as a family after moving to Asheville, NC. It’s about an hour drive from our house to the trailhead, and a short hike up the mountain. It was fall, so the colors of the trees below us looked like a beautiful patchwork quilt. And the 360-degree views of mountains all around were incredible. We sat up there for hours nibbling on the snacks we had packed while watching kids with kites and a few Appalachian Trail thru-hikers pass by. The beautiful views and the on-top-of-the-world feeling was something I wanted to capture in creating this poster.
